The Purple Bytes redesigned and migrated the website of a Dubai accounting firm from Wix to WordPress, moving it from a closed website builder to a fast, structured platform built for search and growth. We also helped the firm correct its domain name so that its web address finally matched its brand.
Overview
Map My Books is a Dubai-based accounting firm that helps startups, SMEs and established companies with bookkeeping, VAT, Corporate Tax, business setup and compliance. Its website is where most prospects first judge the firm, and where it has to explain a wide range of services across many industries.
The original site was built on Wix and ran on the domain mapsmybooks.com. As the firm’s service list and ambitions grew, both the platform and the web address held it back. We were brought in to redesign the site from the ground up, move it to WordPress, and bring the domain in line with the brand name.
The Challenge
Map My Books offers a lot: five service families covering more than a dozen individual services, plus industry-specific accounting for sectors from construction to oil and gas. The Wix build was limiting in several ways.
- The site needed deep, well-organised service and sector pages, each able to rank for its own search intent, rather than a few pages trying to cover everything.
- Search visibility. In a competitive market where prospects search for accounting firms in Dubai, the firm needed granular control over page titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs and structured content.
- Custom navigation, calculators and conversion tools were hard to build on a closed platform.
- Ownership and cost. Hosting, plugins and design on Wix are tied to a single vendor, which limits how the site can evolve.
- A domain that didn’t match the brand. The firm trades as Map My Books, but its old website lived at mapsmybooks.com, with an extra “s”.
Why the Domain Name Mattered
Long before the rebuild, we had advised the client many times that their domain was quietly working against their brand. The business name is Map My Books. The web address was mapsmybooks.com. One extra letter, but it affects the business in several ways.
- Brand recall. People remember a business by its name. When the address differs from the name, visitors type the name they remember and land on the wrong place, or nowhere at all.
- A domain that doesn’t quite match the company name can look like a typo or an unofficial site. For a firm that handles tax and financial records, a clean, exact-match domain signals professionalism and reliability.
- Email credibility. Every email address, proposal and business card carries the domain. An address like info@mapmybooks.com repeats the brand name each time it is used.
- Search and brand searches. A domain that matches the brand name supports branded search, makes the site easier to recognise in results, and gives every page a consistent identity.
- Word of mouth. A name that can be said aloud and typed correctly the first time is far easier to pass on in conversation.
The migration was the right moment to act. Because the whole site was being rebuilt and moved to a new platform, the firm could switch to mapmybooks.com without disrupting a finished site. Moving the domain at the same time as the platform meant visitors, search engines and the team only had to adjust once.
Our Approach
1. Audit and content inventory
We started by cataloguing every page, service description and URL on the existing Wix site, so that nothing valuable was lost and every old address had a planned destination on the new one.
2. Information architecture
We reorganised the content into a clear hierarchy: Services, Sectors, Resources and a single Let’s Connect call to action. Services were grouped into five families (Accounting, VAT, Corporate Tax, Business Setup, and Compliance and Advisory) so visitors can reach the exact service they need in two clicks.
3. Design system
We defined a consistent visual language for typography, colour, buttons, spacing and grid, so that every new service or sector page looks and feels part of one brand.
4. Domain change and migration
Content was moved across and rewritten where needed, the site was set up on the new mapmybooks.com domain, and fresh metadata, Open Graph and Twitter card tags were added to the key pages.
5. Testing and launch
Before launch we tested navigation, forms, calculators and layouts across devices, and set up tracking through Google Tag Manager.
The Solution
The new Map My Books website is organised around how clients actually look for help.
- A structured service menu. Five service families and more than a dozen service pages, all reachable from a mega menu in the header.
- Industry pages. Dedicated landing pages for sectors including construction, education, financial services, real estate, oil and gas and gold and commodities, plus a section covering e-commerce, IT, wholesale and consulting businesses.
- Free business tools. A UAE company setup cost calculator, a VAT calculator and a business structure assessment, which give visitors something useful before they ever make contact.
- Trust-building content. Sections on the firm’s process, the accounting software it works with (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo and Tally), the free zone and government bodies it works alongside, and a full FAQ.
- A clear route to contact. A discovery call form with a service selector, a click-to-call number and a WhatsApp shortcut.
- A content hub. A blog, FAQs, case studies and resources area, giving the firm a place to publish guidance on UAE VAT, Corporate Tax and company formation.
- A domain that matches the brand. The site now lives at mapmybooks.com, the same name customers see on the logo and hear in conversation.
- An on-page accessibility toolbar with options such as contrast, font size and reading aids.
Results
The move to WordPress gave the firm a platform it controls, a site structure built for search and conversion, and a web address that matches its name.
- Full control of hosting, content and code, with no platform lock-in.
- New services, sectors, blog posts and tools can be added without rebuilding the site.
- Brand consistency. Name, domain and email address now say the same thing.
- A stronger first impression. A modern, consistent design that reflects the firm’s partner-led, cross-border expertise.
Why Businesses Move from Wix to WordPress
Wix is a good place to launch. Growing service businesses often outgrow it, for reasons that applied to Map My Books too.
- More control over SEO, page structure and URLs.
- Custom functionality through plugins and code.
- Portability: your content and hosting are yours to move.
- A far larger ecosystem of developers, themes and integrations.
